Bristol-born Burnell has played more than 270 league games
Bath City have signed former Exeter City utility player Joe Burnell on a free transfer.
Burnell joined Exeter City last season, but was released in June after spending several months out with a groin injury.
The 29-year-old made 131 appearances for Bristol City playing in midfield and defence, before pursuing his career at Northampton, Wycombe and Oxford.
Romans boss Adie Britton hopes Burnell will be fit enough to feature at the start of the season.
Burnell's signing coincides with the likely end of former Salisbury City man Sean Clohessy's time with the club.
The 23-year-old defender, who arrived at Twerton Park only last week, has attracted interest from several un-named Football League clubs and Britton has said the player is free to go.
