Hartley joined City in 2009 after being released by Celtic
Bristol City midfielder Paul Hartley will not tour Sweden with the club as manager Steve Coppell says the Scot is unlikely to be there next season.
The 33-year-old has said he wants to return to his homeland and he has been linked in the press with a possible move back to former club Hearts.
Coppell said: "I am anticipating that he won't be here [next season]."
Meanwhile, former Barnet striker John O'Flynn has joined City for their friendly with Gothenburg on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old, who is out-of-contract, had been training with the club ahead of their departure for the three-match Scandinavian tour.
Speaking of Hartley, Coppell added: "He was very good for the club last season, but it's asking a lot to expect him to make that journey over and over again .
"He's too good a player not to be picked up by a club north of the border."
Christian Ribiero (back) and James Wilson (knee) join strikers Nicky Maynard and Danny Haynes on the Ashton Gate injury list, but the rest of the squad is fit for the week-long series of friendlies.
