Oxford United midfielder Joe Burnell and left-back Chris Carruthers face an uncertain future, with Chris Wilder restating they are not in his plans.
Former captain Burnell, 28, and Carruthers, 25, have both been at the Kassam Stadium for a year and have another 12 months on their contracts.
Boss Wilder has said neither player will be joining the rest of the squad on the pre-season tour of Scotland.
But he told BBC Oxford: "Neither player will be ostracised."
United say there have been no firm offers for either player, but it is understood there has been some interest in Burnell from League One side Exeter.
