Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss targets repeat success

Barrow joint-boss Dave Bayliss believes he and colleague Darren Sheridan can oversee another season of success at Holker Street.

Last term, Barrow clinched the FA Trophy, reached round three of the FA Cup and secured league safety in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria: "The chairman told us to be better than last year, and we're confident we will be.

"We've done that the last two years and want to do it again this year."

Since lifting the FA Trophy in May, much has changed within the club's personnel, as Bayliss and Sheridan continue to refine their squad.

Key players such as goalkeeper Stuart Tomlinson, midfielder Andy Bond and full-back Paul Edwards departed, while Leeds custodian Alan Martin, Ciaran Donnelly and Danny Forrest are among the new arrivals.

"The keeper situation was a big one and you don't get better than Alan Martin, and we needed a left-back which we've got in Andrew Nicholas. We're not a million miles away," Bayliss added.

"We've got a lot of players injured but when they're back fit we'll have a lot of players to choose from.

"If it's not going well in a game then we can look at the striker situation, switch it across and change the personnel."
