Blue Square Premier side Barrow were eliminated from the Lancashire Trophy after a 4-2 extra-time defeat by Southport at Haig Avenue.

Southport twice took the lead through Chris Simm and a Gareth Jelleyman own-goal, with Carlos Logan and striker Gregg Blundell bringing Barrow level.

Both sides enjoyed chances to win the game during the 90 minutes.

However two late extra-time goals from Steve Daly and Ciaran Kilheeney won the tie for the home side.

From Barrow's perspective the game served as a useful exercise, with Logan impressing in an unusual striker role.
