Blue Square Premier side Barrow have completed the signing of former Stockport County striker Darren Green.
The 20-year-old, who joined Stockport from Preston College, had been on trial at Holker Street but will now stay with the club until Christmas.
Joint-manager Dave Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria: "We gave him a real test against Morecambe on Saturday and he came through with flying colours.
"He's got that little bit of arrogance which we really like."
Bayliss added: "He's had two heart operations and he could have just jacked it all in but it speaks volumes for him that he's overcome the problems he's had.
"That's why we've offered him a short-term contract as we're not in a position to offer young people with a medical condition anything longer."
Green joins Simon Spender, Sean Newton, Phil Bolland, Paul Rutherford, Robin Hulbert and Adam Dugdale to become the seventh new arrival at Barrow this summer.
However, Bayliss said he is still hopeful of adding more new faces before Saturday's season-opener at Cambridge.
"There will be players in. We're not far off at the moment," he said.
Bayliss also confirmed that a striker from a League One club is "dragging his heels" over a loan move to Holker Street.
We haven't received a single offer for Jason. There wasn't even a figure mentioned

"It's still on-going but it's been a bit of a nightmare," said Bayliss.
"The club have given us permission to take him and we've agreed terms with the club."
"We still need another striker and I'm sure we can cope through the early weeks of the season then there will be more players coming in."
Bayliss also dismissed rumours that the Bluebirds turned down a £40,000 offer from Championship side Doncaster Rovers for striker Jason Walker.
"That's total nonsense," he said. "We haven't received a single offer for Jason. There wasn't even a figure mentioned."
