Bayliss has extended the loan spell of York striker Richard Brodie

Barrow joint-manager Dave Bayliss has praised the "clinical" manner of his side's 4-0 FA Cup first-round replay win over Eastbourne Borough.

The win earned the Bluebirds a home tie against League Two outfit Brentford on Saturday, 29 November.

Bayliss told BBC Radio Cumbria: "All we wanted was the result. I don't think that there was that many goals in it to be honest.

"But we scored four really good goals. We took our chances really well."

Richard Brodie opened the scoring (45) before three second-half goals from Paul Brown (47), Matt Henney (57) and Carlos Logan (76) sealed the win.

Bayliss confirmed after Tuesday night's game that on-loan striker Brodie has extended his stay at Holker Street.

"We've spoken to York about extending [his loan] and they've agreed to do so," he said.

"We're still unhappy with the squad. We do need to strengthen other areas."

The Bluebirds have now lost just twice in their last 11 games, a run of form that includes seven wins.

"The lads are buzzing in there. Every game [you win] gives you confidence and now we can look at Weymouth on Saturday," Bayliss said.

"Hopefully we can give these southern teams a torrid time up here."

Bayliss, who is hoping to bring a new loan singing into the club ahead of the visit of Weymouth, will check on the fitness of on-loan goalkeeper Alan Martin this week.

Martin was replaced after just 16 minutes of Scotland Under-21s' 3-1 home defeat by Northern Ireland on Tuesday night with a leg injury.
