Hill spent the second half of last season on loan at QPR
Barnsley have signed Wolves left-back Matt Hill on a one-month emergency loan after Jay McEveley was ruled out of action with medial ligament damage.
Scotland international McEveley, 24, suffered the injury during Tuesday's 3-0 defeat at Burnley.
Barnsley boss Mark Robins said: "Matt is an experienced Championship defender and that is what we need following Jay McEveley's injury."
Hill, 29, joined Wolves from Preston North End in September 2008.
He began his career as a trainee with Bristol City where he made more than 200 appearances before moving to Deepdale in 2005.
McEveley, who joined Barnsley on a free transfer after his release by Derby during the summer, underwent a scan on Tuesday which confirmed he faces a spell on the sidelines.
