Hugo Colace signs new two-year deal with Barnsley

Hugo Colace signed for Barnsley from Newell's Old Boys in June 2008.

Barnsley midfielder Hugo Colace, has extended his stay at Oakwell by signing a new two-year deal.

The 26-year-old Argentinean, who has made 80 appearances for the Tykes, had offers from other English sides as well as clubs from Mexico, Italy and Russia.

He told the club website: "I'm very pleased to have signed for Barnsley.

"I had many clubs wanting me to come to them, but after thinking long and hard I could not turn my back on club and the supporters."

Colace won fans' player of the year and player's player of the year after his seven league goals in 41 games last season.

Championship rivals Swansea were one of the teams hoping to lure Colace away from Oakwell.
