Basey's last competitive game was for Charlton in February

Barnet have signed former Charlton Athletic defender Grant Basey on a short-term deal until January.

The 21-year-old, who has played for Wales Under-21s, was a free agent following his release by the Addicks during the summer.

Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen pursued the defender for the duration of the summer but said that they could not afford to sign him.

Basey played 53 times for Charlton and had a loan spell at Brentford in 2007.

He could make his Barnet debut against Wycombe on Tuesday.
