Aberdeen aim to sign former Charlton defender Grant Basey but a deal for the 21-year-old would mean the end of manager Mark McGhee's signing spree.
"We don't have a left-back at the club," McGhee explained after Tuesday's 2-2 friendly draw with Brechin.
"We still hope to bring in the boy Grant Basey, but that would be all."
McGhee admitted that he plans to move a few players on from Pittodrie but stressed that they would be youth players rather than experienced pros.
"I've spoken to one or two people but I keep saying it'll be the young players, don't expect any big shocks," McGhee explained.
"There has been a lot of rumours about this player and that player, but it will be the young players."
Basey, a Wales U21 international, joined Charlton as a child and turned professional with the London club in 2007.
He has been with the Dons throughout their pre-season games and is waiting for the club to free up wages by releasing players or agreeing loan deals.
