Villa boss O'Neill is yet to make a signing this summer |
Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has reassured supporters over his lack of activity in the transfer market. Villa bid 7m for West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker on 5 June but are yet to sign a player this summer.
"We are looking to strengthen in the next month and we want to be in a position where we can challenge," O'Neill told Villa's website.
"I don't want to talk about who those players will be at this stage because there has been a lot of speculation."
O'Neill has offloaded left-back Jlloyd Samuel, midfielder Gavin McCann and right-back Aaron Hughes since the end of last season.
"The fans can rest assured we will be strengthening the squad and we will let them know as soon as there is anything to report," added O'Neill.
