Aldershot defender Clayton Fortune eyes starting place
Fortune joined the Shots in the summer after leaving Weston
Aldershot Town defender Clayton Fortune is aiming to cement a first team place after making his first league appearance of the campaign.
The 28-year-old had only featured in cup games this season before starting the 2-1 victory at Burton on Tuesday.
He told BBC Surrey: "I've been patient waiting for my turn. It's a really good squad and I want to be a part of something. It's not been easy.
"Hopefully now I can get a good extended run in the team."
He added: "As long as you keep work hard in training the gaffer [Kevin Dillon] is fair and gives you a chance in the team."
The Shots go to Dover Athletic in the FA Cup second round on Saturday and Fortune believes they must keep their concentration to get into the hat for the next round.
"It's quite a hostile place to go," said the former Bristol City player. "They'll be really hungry and they've shown they're a good team.
"As the game goes on we'll show we're fitter. If we do the job properly we'll have no problem.
"We have to be professional, but it won't be easy."
