Aldershot Town midfielder John Halls is looking to challenge for a starting place after a spell on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old is approaching full fitness after missing the majority of last term and part of pre-season with an ongoing groin injury.
He told BBC Surrey: "I'm a bit off at the moment but body-wise I'm fitter than I have ever been. But I'm not expecting to walk back into the team.
"I'm going to work hard and prove I am worth a place in the team."

He added: "Hopefully I can keep strong and healthy for as long as possible. I'm looking forward to the challenge.
"It has been a really long time out. I got through 90 minutes in the reserves the other day and I feel fine for it," he said.
"I'm trying to get some more training under my belt, get my fitness up, get back in the squad and go from there."
Aldershot manager Kevin Dillon paid tribute to Halls for his attitude during his recovery process, which began after he injured his groin in 2009.
"He's worked really hard," Dillon told BBC Surrey. "I would say he's going to be as fit as he's ever been when he gets games under his belt.
"He looks stronger and I see a real determination in his eye. Nick Brink [club physio] says he's probably one of the best people he's worked with.
"John is a very team-orientated man and he's very loyal. I'll be giving him the same back because I respect him for what he's gone through.
"He's been very positive about everything during his rehab."
