Aldershot midfielder John Halls says he is hoping to play a big part in their final push for promotion to League One.
Halls finally came back as a substitute for the play-off chasers in Saturday's 2-1 win at Cheltenham after five months out with a groin problem.
He told BBC Surrey: "If I can do anything to help with our little run-in, and maybe in the play-offs, then I'll be delighted to do that.
"I do feel fresh but match fitness is not really there yet."
Halls has been been involved in just 17 games, but is really impressed with how the squad have coped.
He said: "We had a change of manager a few times this season, and it does take a while for a manager to put his stamp on a team, and let them know what he expects of you.
"Who knows - if we'd had one gaffer for the whole season, I'd have expected us to push for automatic promotion with the squad and the players we've got."
Kevin Dillon was named as manager in November after Gary Waddock left for Wycombe, with Jason Dodd having had a spell as caretaker in between.
Dillon, who replaced Gary Waddock earlier this season, has been unhappy with the time its taken to get Halls back, and has changed the club physiotherapist.
But Halls said: "I'm not knocking anyone at the club - it's happened. I can put it behind me know and just concentrate on getting fit and keeping myself fit now."
