Knight takes over from Paul Priddy at the Recreation Ground
Aldershot's new goalkeeping coach Alan Knight is delighted to be working in professional football again.
The 48-year-old former Portsmouth keeper was managing Wessex League side Horndean before joining Shots.
He told BBC Surrey: "It's been tough, when you leave the footballing circle it is difficult to get back in.
"Sometimes you have to take the opportunities when they come along and this is a great opportunity to come along and join Aldershot."
Knight's first task has been to get to know Shots goalkeepers Mikhael Jaimez Ruiz and Clark Masters.
"Mikhael has been great to work with, I've worked this week with him and obviously Clark and a couple of the young boys in the youth team," he said.
"It's a learning process for me to get to know them but obviously you've got to hit the ground running as quickly as possible because we have big games coming up."
