Aldershot have decided to part company with goalkeeper Nikki Bull, who will leave the club at the end of the month.
The decision was made after the 27-year-old called a meeting with Shots boss Gary Waddock on Saturday.
Chairman John McGinty told BBC Surrey: "He asked for the meeting, we didn't but it was inevitable that it was the way he felt."
Bull arrived in the summer of 2002 made over 300 appearances, helping them to the Blue Square Premier title in 2008.
McGinty added: "He wanted to pursue different careers outside football. One of the options was to also play football if it was possible."
