Aldershot captain Rhys Day says the whole team did a good defensive job in the 1-0 victory over Port Vale.
It was the Shots first clean sheet since the opening day of the season.
He told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "The last 10 or 15 minutes we were a bit nervy, but it was great to get a clean sheet.
"The two centre forwards and midfield were winning the ball on the front foot, up on the half-way line and 18-yard box."
The former Mansfield defender has come back into the side after injury to play alongside Chris Blackburn, with Anthony Charles switching to left-back.
And Day is enjoying the partnership: "Chris is vocal, he puts his foot in and he can bring it down and play. We're solid with that experience."
