The New Saints lose to Llanelli in Welsh Cup semi-final

A Chris Venables goal six minutes from time ensured Llanelli beat Welsh Premier League leaders The New Saints 1-0 in the Welsh Cup semi-finals.

Venables fired past Saints keeper Paul Harrison after a neat one-two with Jordan Fellows.

Craig Jones had chances put TNS ahead, lobbing wide and then going close from a Chris Seargeant corner.

Jones missed an even better chance just before Venables' decisive goal when he fired over the bar from close range.

Saints will now concentrate on their bid to retain the Welsh Premier League title, they currently lead Bangor by a single point.

They also have the chance for revenge against Llanelli, when the two sides meet in the League Cup final later this month.

In the Welsh Cup final Llanelli will play Bangor City, who beat Connah's Quay Nomads 1-0 in the other semi-final.
