Aaron Burns has signed a two-year extension to his current contract with Premiership champions Linfield.
The 18-year-old is highly rated by Blues boss David Jeffrey who is delighted to have secured the new deal.
"Aaron excelled in our recent European games and he has made fantastic progress since making his debut against Glentoran on Boxing Day," said Jeffrey.
"He knows he has a lot to learn but he is a great prospect. He has made a conscious decision to remain at home."
"Aaron had opportunities open to him in England and other Irish League clubs were interested in him.
"He can play in a variety of positions, left back, left midfield and centre back and I'm just so pleased he has committed himself to Linfield."
Meanwhile Crusaders have secured the services of former Ballymena United midfielder Aidan Watson.
The player, who took part in recent friendlies against Limavady United and St Mirren, has agreed a two-year contract with the Seaview club.
