Linfield boss David Jeffrey believes NI defender Chris Casement will be a star at Windsor Park after signing a two-year part-time deal.

The 22-year-old, who played the second half of last season for Linfield on loan from Dundee, had his contract terminated at Dens Park last month.

"Chris certainly has the potential to become an outstanding Linfield player in the future," said Jeffrey.

"He's quick, strong and has a good attitude - I'm delighted he's signed."

Casement made his senior Northern Ireland debut in the 3-0 friendly defeat against Italy last year.

"Obviously, when he left Dundee, he was looking at several options but he also knew that if he was to come home, Linfield was the place where he wanted to be," Jeffrey told the club website.

"He's not just a signing for now. We're obviously looking to the future with this signing.

"Technically, he's a very good footballer and in terms of his character he has all the qualities required of a Linfield player."

Jeffrey said he was possibly looking to add one more player before the season starts.
