Derry City 6-0 Kildare County

Mark Farren
Mark Farren scored Derry's last two goals on Tuesday evening

Derry City handed out a hammering to Kildare County in Tuesday's FAI Ford Cup fourth-round tie at the Brandywell.

Thomas Stewart put Derry ahead on seven minutes and Clive Delaney hit two further goals before the interval.

Derry continued to dominate but the fourth goal didn't come until Stewart stroked home on 81 after good work by Gareth McGlynn.

Mark Farren headed in Derry's fifth two minutes later and he rifled in a superb sixth a minute from time.

Niall McGinn set up Derry's opener after a great run and cross presented an easy finish for ex-Linfield striker Stewart.

Delaney doubled Derry's lead six minutes later after he headed Kevin Deery's cross past Austin O'Neill.

Great work by Kevin McHugh and Eddie McCallion set up Derry's third with Delaney slotting home from eight yards.

Gareth McGlynn's through ball released Stewart to fire home the Candystripes' fourth goal nine minutes from time.

Farren headed the fifth two minutes later after a Kevin McHugh cross and the late flurry of goals was concluded by Farren's cracking shot on 89.

Derry's clinical finishing was impressive but manager Stephen Kenny will surely be mindful that the opposition was extremely poor.
