Northern Ireland got their Milk Cup Elite Section challenge off to a winning start by beating the USA 3-1 at Coleraine Showgrounds on Monday night.
James McLean scored the opener but a Johnny Flynn own goal saw the USA draw level before an Ike Opara own goal gave Northern Ireland the lead again.
Jordan Owens scored the winner by powering home a long-range ground shot.
Holders Israel drew 2-2 with Belgium, Chile beat Wales 5-0 and Premier champions Fluminese beat Co Armagh 2-1.
Manchester United beat Otago 4-0 in the Premier but County Londonderry was the only one of the six Northern Ireland counties to register a victory.
Chelsea defeated Brondby in the Junior Section and County Tyrone, County Down and County Armagh upheld local honour by winning their fixtures at Under-14 level.
