Gary Browne produced quality finishing for the Glens |
A Gary Browne hat-trick helped the Glens overcome a brave Larne challenge. The striker scored his first on three minutes with a low right foot drive from seven yards but Mark Dickson equalised from 10 yards on 26 minutes.
Browne grabbed his second on 64 minutes and Shaun Holmes made it 3-1 with a superb low free-kick from 35 yards which came off the inside of the post.
Browne completed his hat-trick with a quality finish on 72 and Chris Morgan scored the fifth in the final minute.
Former Manchester City player Browne was left unmarked for his opener but Gary McCutcheon and Dickson looked lively for the visitors and both tested Elliott Morris.
Larne were full of invention and tenacity in the first period and were rewarded when Dickson netted his left-foot equaliser for his fourth goal of the season after being fed by McCutcheon.
The Inver men's defences crumbled in the second half as the Glens took control to stay two points behind championship rivals Linfield.
