Gary McCutcheon missed a second half penalty |
An excellent 75th minute equaliser from Andrew Cleary earned the home side a point at Inver Park on Saturday. Cleary turned and chipped the ball into the far corner of the net.
In the first half, Alex Spackman denied Pat McAllister and Andy Crawford twice while Gary McCutcheon and Gus Delilah were wide with efforts for Larne.
Damien Curran broke the deadlock on 43 minutes and after Cleary's equaliser, Robert Robinson saved McCutcheon's penalty. Gerry Flynn was sent-off.
Flynn was dismissed for two bookable offences, the second being a foul on substitute Bertie Fulton which resulted in Larne's penalty.
Spackman distinguished himself early on by pushing McAllister's header onto the post and then saving from Crawford, one from a narrow angle and another a bad miss from the Newry striker.
Two minutes before the interval, midfielder Curran stroked the ball in from Alan Murphy's cut back following Barry Curran's free-kick.
Crawford's second half shot rebounded off the post and late in the game, Robinson came to his side's rescue with the penalty save and a fine stop from Cleary.
