 Mark Glendinning headed Glentoran's extra-time winner |
CIS Insurance Cup holders Glentoran sealed their fifth final appearance in six seasons with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Portadown at Windsor Park. The Glens had trailed to Paddy Quinn's stooping header in the first minute of the second half.
Colin Nixon headed Glentoran level on 75 minutes and another defender Mark Glendinning snapped up the winner just before halfway in extra-time.
Linfield and Lisburn Distillery meet in the other semi-final on Wednesday.
Glentoran's win was their first over Portadown in eight meetings and the east Belfast side are now unbeaten in the CIS competition for 31 matches.
Portadown boss Ronnie McFall will ask questions about his side's defending as they conceded that Nixon equaliser.
It came from a Melaugh corner and, with the Ports players leaving it, keeper David Miskelly failed to come to collect and Nixon headed in from close-range.
From then on, Roy Coyle's side looked the more likely winners and Glendinning settled it by heading in from another corner - his 25th goal in a Glentoran shirt.
However, Glens keeper Elliott Morris had to pull off a late save as Portadown piled forward right at the end of extra-time.
