Crawford scores double on debut
Andy Crawford scored two goals on his Newry debut
Two debut goals by Andy Crawford helped Newry Town claim a comfortable 5-1Nationwide Irish Cup win over Bangor.

Damien Curran put Newry ahead with a 24th minute penalty and Michael McHugh struck Newry's second on 26 minutes.

Crawford opened his Newry account in the 37th minute and repeated the dose seven minutes after the interval.

Another former Omagh player Richard Clarke hit Newry's fifth in the 62nd minute and Darren McKay's 71st minute goal was scant consolation for Bangor.

Gavin Doherty's hat-trick helped Institute ease past Ballymoney United 4-0 to ensure a winning start for new manager Pascal Vaudequin.

Gareth Sproule and Doherty put Institute 2-0 up within 27 minutes and Ballymoney's woes were emphasised by Gareth Hill's dismissal for handball which resulted in Doherty's opening goal from a penalty.

Doherty struck a third goal for Institute right on half-time and he completed his hat-trick early in the second period.

Larne comfortably accounted for East Belfast 3-0 at Inver Park thanks to goals from Andrew Bonner (43), Mark Dickson (69) and Geoff Hughes (87).

Late substitute Joe McRoberts struck an 88th minute equalise to earn Ballyclare Comrades a cup replay against Ards on Wednesday (1945 GMT).

Ards debutant Robert Knox headed against the Ballyclare woodwork in the sixth minute but the First Division side had the better of the remainder of the first half with Ricky Higgins and Ryan Murray going close.

David Fairclough put Ards ahead with a 74rd minute goal but McRoberts' late effort ensured Wednesday's meeting which will again be at Dixon Park.

Early goals from Shane McCabe and David Scullion helped earn Dungannon Swifts a 2-1 win over the Armagh City.

McCabe curled a great shot to the net in the second minute to put Dungannon ahead and Scullion stroked in the second in the 16th minute after great work by JP Gallagher.

Dungannon's Thomas Hefferman headed into his own net in the 81st minute to strain his team-mates' nerves but the Tyrone side held on to progress to the sixth round.

Before the game, Armagh revealed the signing of Newry's Robert Casey.

Late goals from former Irish League favourite Tom Clelland (77) and Chris Towell (89) earned Harland & Wolff Welders a 2-0 win over Tobermore United.

In another battle of the juniors, John McCarthy's 82nd minute goal earned Kilmore Rec a 1-0 win over Ballynure Old Boys.
