Gavin Dykes' Derry City are now bottom of the Eircom League |
Derry City's hopes of avoiding relegation received mixed news on Friday when UCD drew with St Patrick's Athletic and Drogheda defeated Bohemians.
Drogheda's surprise 2-0 win over Bohs means that Derry's hopes of avoiding relegation rest in a possible play-off.
UCD's draw moves the Students a point clear of Derry but the Candystripes, while they are bottom of the table, now have a game in hand on the Belfield outfit.
UCD's lone remaining game in a home contest against Longford while Derry's two final matches are a home contest against Bohemians on Tuesday and the 30 November game in Waterford.
Wins in their final two games will guarantee Derry a play-off place but the Candystripes have claimed only five victories in 34 league contests this season.
With Bohs losing in Drogheda, Shelbourne were confirmed as league champions thanks to their 2-0 win over Cork City at Tolka Park.
