Lokomotiv Moscow playmaker Loskov has a fine goalscoring record and is the chief alternative to the ageing Alexander Mostovoi. Loskov joined Lokomotiv in 1997 and led the team to the Uefa Cup semi-finals in 1998.
He helped his club win the Russian Cup in 2000 and 2001 before claiming the league title in 2002.
Loskov was in outstanding form this year as Lokomotiv surprised many pundits by reaching the second round of the Champions League.
The midfielder was not included in Russia's squad for the 2002 World Cup but regained his place under new coach Georgi Yartsev.
Loskov started five games in his side's qualification for Portugal and particularly impressed in Russia's 4-2 win against Ireland.
Did you know? Loskov scored twice in Lokomotiv's 3-0 Champions League win against Italian giants Inter this season.
