Can anybody tell me the last time the Russians played well in a major tournament? Thought not. And can anyone believe Peter Schmeichel tipped the Russians to do well? That's a no as well.
They looked shoddy against Spain and Portugal, so I was surprised they only conceded three goals in those games.
But, as is their custom, when their Euro dreams were over and chances of qualification were over, they pulled off a surprise win against Greece.
It leaves me baffled, but clearly not all was well within the Russian camp.
Star player Alexander Mostovoi was sent home mid-tournament for questioning coach Georgie Yartsev and they rarely clicked as a team.
