Highly-rated player Dennis Rommedahl began his career at Danish side Lygby before being snapped up by Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven. He was loaned out to RKC Waalwijk for the 1997/98 season but quickly established himself in the PSV first team on his return.
The Dane's pace down the right wing and his capacity to chip in with valuable goals proved invaluable as PSV captured three titles in four years.
His impact for Denmark was equally swift, scoring both goals in a 2-1 triumph over Germany, just months after his international debut.
And he also scored one of the goals in Denmark's memorable 2-0 defeat of France at the 2002 World Cup finals.
Another good showing in Portugal could see the flying winger earn himself a move to one of Europe's top clubs.
