You have to feel sorry for my old pal Peter Schmeichel.
He really believed his side could repeat their heroics of the 1992 championships but, sadly for him, it wasn't to be.
They simply came up against a Czech Republic side that were just too good. After a tight first half, they were then blown off the pitch.
But credit where credit's due. The Danes did a great job to make it out of their group ahead of the Italians.
They were a team built on playing as a unit rather than relying on stars - a format which has seen a host of sides exceed expectations.
