After inheriting a team that was well beaten in all three matches at Euro 2000, Morten Olsen has helped rebuild Denmark into a useful counter-attacking side. A reliable defender who won 102 caps for his country, Olsen coached Brondby, Cologne and Ajax before replacing Bo Johansson as Denmark boss in 2000.
The Dane dispensed with Johansson's preferred 4-4-2 formation in favour of a bold 4-3-3 system which utilises the pace of wingers Jesper Gronkjaer and Dennis Rommedahl.
He frequently stresses the need for his side to entertain but also proved he is a shrewd tactician by masterminding the Danes' World Cup victory against France in 2002.
Despite bowing out to England in the second round, Denmark took confidence from their performances and qualified for Portugal after topping a group including Romania and Norway.
Though lacking household names such as Peter Schmeichel and Brian Laudrup, who famously helped Denmark win Euro 92, Olsen is optimistic his side can make the knock-out stages.
Did you know? Olsen ended his international playing career in style, winning his 102nd and final cap in a 4-0 friendly win against Brazil in 1989.
