Wrexham move into fifth position after coming from behind to beat Carlisle 2-1.

Hector Sam secured the three points coming on as a substitute to score with his first touch of the ball.

The Trinidad and Tobago striker had only been on the pitch for four minutes, when Lee Jones put a ball through to him.

Sam didn't waste any time warming up as he slotted the ball past Carlisle keeper Matt Glennon.

More bad news followed for the home side with striker Richie Foran being sent-off following a foul on Paul Barrett.

It was Foran who had put Carlisle ahead at the start of the first-half.

Middlesbrough loan player Mark Hudson crossed for Foran and he duly struck a 15-yard shot which easily beat Paul Whitfield.

Wrexham equalised after 33 minutes when Carlisle defender Des Byrne was caught in possession by Jones who stroked a 25-yard shot into the net.

Lee Trundle made sure that Carlisle keeper Glennon earned his wages forcing him to punch clear a powerful shot.

Wrexham manager Denis Smiths will be happy that his side leave Brunton Park with the three points, but Carlisle will be disappointed that they could not hold on for the draw.
