The three relegated teams from the Premiership in Derby, Leicester and Ipswich respectively kick-off against Reading, Watford and Walsall. Leicester will entertain Watford at their new Walkers Stadium and Derby are also at home as they look likely to provide a tough first test for newly-promoted Reading.
Division Two champions Brighton launch their campaign against a solid Burnley side while play-off victors Stoke visit Hillsborough to play Sheffield Wednesday. Coventry are under the new management of Gary McAllister and take on Sheffiled United with hopes of promotion high in the mind of fans. Fellow Midlanders Wolves will have high hopes as well after finishing third last term in a challenge which down to the last day. They start with a game against unsettled Bradford. Norwich lost on penalties in the play-off final and are another team who have had the summer to get over narrowly missing out on promotion. They entertain Grimsby at Carrow Road while fellow play-off losers Millwall start out against Rotherham. Wimbledon will hope to improve on last season and put in a firm push for promotion. They will be tested by Gillingham.
