Andy Pugh's hat-trick cemented Welling United's place at the top of the Blue Square South.

The Wings beat Maidenhead United 4-0 to remain two points clear of Woking, who defeated Dover Athletic 3-1.

Welling boss Jamie Day told BBC Radio Kent: "The boys have responded to a disappointing result last week.

"We've got to be consistent and hopefully we can go on another run and try to stay top of the table."

Elsewhere in the Blue Square Bet South, Tonbridge Angels beat Salisbury 3-1 at Longmead.

Manager Tommy Warrilow said: "We don't do it the easy way but we deserved the win today.

"They're very experienced and they used it to get onto the referee but taking nothing away from our players. We thoroughly deserved to win."

Dartford remain third in the table after goals from Charlie Sheringham and Lee Burns gave them a 2-1 win at Farnborough whilst Bromley went down 4-1 at Staines Town.

In the FA Cup first qualifying round, Maidstone United scored nine goals for the second FA Cup tie in a row.

The Stones won 9-1 at Banstead, Shaun Welford and Baff Addae both scoring hat-tricks.

Player-manager Jay Saunders told BBC Radio Kent: "If we'd been ruthless, we could have won by more.

"I'm confident in us getting goals. They're coming from all around and long may it continue."
