Chelmsford City captain Dave Rainford has ended speculation about his future by signing a one-year deal for the 2011/12 season.
The midfielder, who scored 20 goals last season, revealed that he turned down offers from clubs in higher divisions to stay with the Clarets.
Chelmsford are back in the Blue Square Bet South next season after missing out in the play-offs last term.
Rainford said: "People can see that I've got an affinity with this club."
He added: "This contract means that I will be in a position to make more appearances for City than any other club.
"Nobody wants to get Chelmsford promoted more than me."
The Clarets have been busy restructuring for the next campaign.
Defenders Mark Haines, Ben Nunn and Adam Tann and forwards Anthony Cook, Rob Edmans and Ricky Modeste are all staying.
Takumi Ake, Sami El-Abd and John Martin have been released, whilst Matt Lock has also decided to leave.
