Andy Sinton has left his job outside football to concentrate on managing AFC Telford in the Blue Square Bet Premier.

The former England winger led the Bucks up from the Blue Square Bet North this month in his first season in charge, while also working at an alarm company.

He will have talks with the board about extending his role, but the players will remain part-time despite going up.

"I want to do the Telford job properly and I don't think I could with the way it was," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"It was my choice to do what I did but I don't think I could have carried on with what seemed like two full-time jobs.

"It would have been very difficult if I were servicing an alarm installation in South Wales on a Tuesday afternoon when I needed to get on a team bus to go to Gateshead.

Being a football manager is what I think I'm best at, and I've got to channel my efforts into it

"So, when the company was sold recently, I talked to my family, then sat down with the new owners and took a package to go.

"It's been a financial sacrifice, but it's worth it. Being a football manager is what I think I'm best at, and I've got to channel my efforts into it."

Sinton, 45, enjoyed a successful playing career with QPR, Sheffield Wednesday, Tottenham and Wolves.

He spent five years as Fleet Town manager before resigning last summer to take over the Telford job from Rob Smith, who was sacked after the Bucks fell short of the Blue Square Bet North play-offs.

Sinton has retained most of his 2010/11 squad as a reward for winning promotion.

But he has released striker Danny Carey-Bertram, who spent much of the season on loan at Hednesford, and is looking to strengthen with six or seven new signings.
