Danny Davidson scored Boston's third goal to take the tie to penalties
Caretaker coach Jason Lee says Boston United can take pride in their season after losing to Guiseley in their Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-final.
The Pilgrims won 3-2 after extra-time in the second leg to make it 3-3 on aggregate and take the tie to a penalty shootout, which Guiseley won 3-2.
Lee told BBC Lincolnshire: "What a game, what a way to end the season. Everyone should be proud of the team.
"It had everything - comebacks, guts, the lads' commitment was unbelievable."
In front of a crowd of 2,640 at York Street the Pilgrims went ahead after 10 minutes when Shaun Pearson, who seconds earlier had a header cleared off the line, powered home the resulting corner from Jamie Yates.
I've said to the players that even world-class players miss penalties, it's just one of those things but I'm so, so proud of them

The woodwork twice denied Boston's Anthony Church either side of the break before Guiseley levelled on the hour through Gavin Rothery, but Boston regained the lead through Anthony Church in the 79th minute to level the tie at 2-2 and take the game into extra time.
Darryn Stamp's 20-yard strike three minutes into the second period restored Guiseley's overall advantage but within five minutes Danny Davidson headed the Pilgrims level again.
Adam Boyes missed a chance to snatch victory for Boston before the game went to penalties.
Danny Sleath, Gareth Jelleyman and Boyes missed their spot-kicks for the Pilgrims while Danny Boshell and Ryan Toulson failed from 12 yards for Guiseley, but Warren Peyton scored with the final penalty to send Guiseley through to the final at AFC Telford United on Sunday, 15 May.
Lee, who returned to the club to take temporary charge alongside Lee Canoville after the departures of Rob Scott and Paul Hurst, said: "I've said to the players that even world-class players miss penalties, it's just one of those things but I'm so, so proud of them.
"I'm so grateful for the effort and commitment they've put in. They've been a pleasure to work with, as players and as men, and it's been a great experience."
