Boston Utd beat Blyth Spartans to clinch play-off spot
Boston United hammered Blyth Spartans 5-0 at York Street to clinch a place in the Blue Square Bet North play-offs.
After a slow start, Ryan Semple, Anthony Church and Lawrie Dudfield struck in the space of five minutes to give the Pilgrims a 3-0 half-time lead.
Shane Clarke's first goal for Boston made it 4-0 after 86 minutes with Adam Boyes adding the fifth in injury time.
Caretaker coach Jason Lee told BBC Lincolnshire: "The scoreline makes it look like it was easy, but it wasn't."
He added: "As the game wore on it opened up for us. They were better than us in the first half-hour, it took us a long time to work out their formation and that frustrated me a little bit but we got three goals and after that, they had no plan B and we caused them all sorts of problems."
The Pilgrims remain in third in the table, three points behind AFC Telford United.
They can guarantee a top-three finish on Monday with a victory at fourth-placed Nuneaton Town.
