David Newton became the new chairman of Boston United in 2007
Boston United chairman David Newton admits that they are likely to remain part-time even if they win promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier.
"If we go up I don't think we can afford to go full-time," the Pilgrims chairman told BBC Lincolnshire.
"We're not going to bankrupt the business again. We're not going to do anything silly."
Boston go into Sunday's home Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-final second leg with Guiseley 1-0 down.
A crowd of more than 2,000 is expected at York Street.
And Newton, who saved the club from going out of business after they were relegated from the Football League in 2007, is hopeful that the Pilgrims can turn the tie around.
"I hope we can get a great crowd on Sunday," he said. "I hope we can reward them with a trip to the final. They've been magnificent."
