Little sorry for Gainsborough Trinity's poor home form

Gainsborough Trinity

Gainsborough manager Brian Little apologised to fans for Trinity's poor home form in the Blue Square Bet North after the 3-0 defeat by Alfreton.

Anthony Wilson netted twice and Jake Moult also scored as the champions inflicted the Blues' 12th league defeat in 20 games at the Northolme.

Little told BBC Lincolnshire: "Anybody who thinks it doesn't hurt me is wrong.

"I feel sorry for the fans. I genuinely would say to them that we're sorry that we haven't done better."

He added: "Any manager in the country at any level will tell you it hurts. Sometimes fans think I'm not sorry for them but it hurts me.

"I'm 58 years old but I still go home at night sometimes and just sit in a room."

But Little admitted that Trinity had been outclassed by the visitors.

"They were stronger than us without a doubt," he said. "We missed chances at important times and we were sloppy for each of their goals.

"We worked hard and tried hard but they were better than us.

"There are five or six sides in the division who are miles better than everyone else and they're one of them."
