Harrogate Town's 10 game unbeaten run ended with a 5-1 defeat at Droylsden.
The hosts lead 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Ciaran Kilheeney and Domain Rouse.
Aaron Chalmers, Michael Connor and John Miles added after the break, with Graeme Armstrong netting a consolation from the spot for the visitors.
Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver told BBC Radio York: "There are ways of ending a run and this must rank as one of the worst."
He added: "It was a bright and positive period and I can't really take too many positives away from the game to be honest.
"It was a hot day but that's the same for both teams. In fact Droylsden played on Wednesday so we've had more rest than them.

"We started very brightly and I thought we can turn these over. The first 15 minutes we had three of four great opportunities.
"But you don't take your opportunities and you invite pressure. We couldn't keep the back door locked as we have been doing so well recently."
Town's next game is at home to Workington on Easter Monday and Weaver is considering making changes to his team.
"There's a couple on the bench who need an opportunity before they come and see me at the end of the season. It might be a case of introducing them.
"We need energetic players on Monday. We've got to go again. It was a bad day at the office."
