AFC Telford winger Sean Evans is aiming to be back playing in time for pre-season after suffering a double leg break at the start of the season.

Evans has been sidelined for the last eight months following the injury against Wolves in pre-season last year.

"Hopefully I can sort myself out and be ready for next season," the 23-year-old told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"I want a chance at Telford to prove to the fans how good I can be. It's been the worst time of my life."

The former Manchester United player joined Telford in 2009 under then manager Rob Smith and, after running for the last two months, now believes he will be back to his best.

"I had a screw taken out of my leg last week," he said.

"I've got to have scans on my knee now, I've got a problem with the ligament.

"It's all about getting the running style right. As long as I can play football at the highest level that's what I'm aiming for."

Telford are second in the Blue Square Bet North and look certainties to be in the play-offs at the end of the season with Alfreton requiring just six points from their remaining five games to win the league.

Listen to an in-depth interview with Sean Evans on BBC Radio Shropshire talking about his road to recovery on April 19 from 1900 GMT.
