Chelmsford City have signed former Thurrock defender Rob Swaine on non-contract terms and Colchester striker Freddie Ladapo on loan.
Swaine is banned until 16 April whilst Ladapo, 18, recently had a spell on work experience with Thurrock.
The Blue Square Bet South side are in danger of dropping out of the play-off places after just two wins in 10 games.
Meanwhile striker Lee Boylan has left after making just four substitute appearances for the club.
Chelmsford have six games left to secure a top-five finish.
They are currently in the play-off places on goal difference, but the three teams below them have games in hand.
