Pentney signed a one-year deal with Colchester in September

Colchester United have sent goalkeeper Carl Pentney on loan to Chelmsford City while midfielder Sam Corcoran has joined Lowestoft Town.

Pentney, 21, had a 13-game spell with Bath City earlier in the campaign and heads to Chelmsford until the end of the season.

Corcoran, 20, will be with Lowestoft for one month, but the pair will continue to train with the U's.

Colchester have a 24-hour recall clause in Pentney's deal.

Keeper Pentney joined the U's from Leicester in August but has yet to make an appearance for John Ward's side.

"They're both young players who need more competitive football than the reserve team set-up can offer them," Ward told the club's website.
