Back-row Collins may exit Worcester Warriors

James Collins has started six league games for Worcester this season

Worcester Warriors back row forward James Collins looks set to leave Sixways at the end of the season.

Collins started Saturday's 40-23 win against London Welsh in place of the injured Pat Sanderson - but he may not have done enough to earn a new deal.

"James is out of contract and we have a lot of back rows forwards," coach Richard Hill told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "But it's still ongoing.

"He stepped into some big shoes replacing Pat Sanderson and did well."

One of Hill's most consistent back rowers, former Irish international Neil Best, drew praise for his showing against the Exiles.

"He is a real winner," said Hill. "You know he is going to go right to the bitter end.

"If you put certain characteristics to certain people, Aleki Lutui brings you carrying, Craig Gillies is going to win the line-out, Tevita Taumoepeau locks the scrum, but Besty brings you aggression and energy."

Warriors continue their play off campaign at Nottingham this Friday (25 March, 1945 GMT). Full commentary on the game on BBC Hereford & Worcester.
