Kent football results and summary

Martin Hayes
Hayes' Dover have now won four Blue Square Bet South games in a row.

Ebbsfleet United closed the gap on Blue Square Bet South leaders Braintree to four points with a 2-1 win at home to Havant and Waterlooville.

Two-goal Calum Willock took his tally to 22 for the season after Havant had taken an early lead.

Dover Athletic are just four points off the play-offs after Barry Cogan hit the only goal in a 1-0 win at Maidenhead.

Kent Ryman League teams to win included Tonbridge, Cray, Margate, Sittingbourne and Ramsgate.

The Fleet's victory means they do the double over Havant, who they beat a month ago.

"We've got a good record against Havant and we maintained that," Fleet manager Liam Daish told BBC Radio Kent.

"It was difficult out there. We went behind from their first attack, but we reacted well, won more tackles, got physical and Calum scored two goals and that was a big win for us.

"We have to put pressure on above, keep winning games and see if Braintree can do the same."

Dover won for the fourth game running 1-0 at Maidenhead leaving manager Martin Hayes confident of reaching the top five play-offs finish.

"It's in our hands," he said. "We know we're capable of winning home and away. Eight more wins will be enough to put us third or fourth maybe."

Dartford extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 2-2 draw at Basingstoke.

Ryan Hayes and Danny Harris both netted before the break to leave the Darts 12th in Blue Square Bet South.

Dartford manager Tony Burman was disappointed not to claim a fifth win in a row.

"If you score two goals away from home you're looking to get three points," he said. "We went 2-1 up and it should have stayed that way."

Tonbridge beat Kent neighbours Maidstone 1-0 thanks to Karl Rook's first-half goal.

Tonbridge are now third in the Ryman Premier, leaving Maidstone bottom.

Sittingbourne left it late to beat Walton Casuals 1-0, Nick Reeves scoring their winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Whitstable Town made an emotional return to the Belmont Ground, just three weeks after vandalism forced them to refit all the dressing rooms.

They lost 3-1 to Whitehawk but committee member Tony Rouse was grateful just to be back.

"It's been a real effort from everybody," he said. "We've had people dropping cheques into our hand.

"Initial estimates was £5,000 of damage but I think four and a half thousand will get us back to where we were.

"We've had a wonderful response from people in Whitstable who are nothing to do with the football club. It was a good crowd. Just a pity we couldn't serve up the right football for them".

In the Kent League, Herne Bay replaced Hythe at the top of the table with a 4-2 win at Sevenoaks.
