Thompson (red and white shirt) scores for Woking against Coventry in 1997
Former Woking midfielder Steve Thompson is considering a return to the club as a coach under newly-appointed manager Garry Hill.
The 48-year-old joined the first team for training on Saturday after their Blue Square Bet South match at Weston-super-Mare was postponed.
Thompson told BBC Surrey: "I know Garry from competing against him so he's asked me if I'm interested.
"I've said I definitely am. I'd love to do it if it's possible."
He added: "Garry's got to speak to the board and for me I've got to discuss with Garry whether it's possible with where I live and my work commitments.
"I teach and coach at a college down in Dorchester so I'll need to speak to them to see if they'll be flexible."
Thompson spent two and a half years at Kingfield, winning the FA Trophy in 1997 and scoring the equaliser as the Cards drew 1-1 away to Coventry in the FA Cup fourth round in 1997.
He added: "I love Woking and the years I had there. I've got an affinity with the fans and the club.
"If I can help in any way I'd love to help Garry and Woking Football Club. I hope I can help to restore them back to the Conference."
