Crawley were knocked off top spot in the Blue Square Bet Premier after a goalless draw at Grimsby.
In an uneventful first-half it was the hosts who came closest to opening the scoring, Darran Kempson heading over from a Robert Eagle corner.
Crawley began the second half strongly but Josh Simpson and Matt Tubbs were unable to get the better of Mariners keeper Kenny Arthur.
Tubbs had two further chances but it was not to be for the Red Devils.
The result puts an end to Crawley's run of five successive wins in all competitions and leaves them one point behind league leaders AFC Wimbledon.
Grimsby are in ninth, six points off the play-offs.
